The English Language Institute is located on the campus of JSU in Jacksonville, Alabama, which lies only 1 ½ hour's drive west of Atlanta, Georgia. The university is a public institution of more than 9,200 students, and it is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The ELI is a non-credit institute set up to assist students who want to learn English. The classes are designed for students who have an interest in studying at universities and colleges in the United States. Consequently, the program specializes in academic English. However, students who would like to come for a shorter-term study experience are also encouraged to attend the institute. Learning English at the ELI opens a world of opportunities. Providing students with the chance to learn about American culture, as well as the English language, is a focus at the institute. Assuring that students receive a well-rounded educational experience is a vital part of our mission. As a student, not only will you have a chance to work closely with your teachers and learn as an individual in small classes, but you will also attend a variety of on-campus activities in which you will get to know Americans. Curriculum and Scheduling Highlights- Number of Levels - 4-6 that range from Beginning to High Advanced
- Basic courses- Reading/Writing, Listening/Speaking, Structure, and Elective Classes (TOEFL, English through Film, English through Music, American Culture, Slang, etc.)
- Approximately 150 hours of classroom instruction per session
- Four 7 ½-week sessions during the fall and spring semesters (20+ hours per week)
- Two 6-week sessions during the summer semester (25+ hours per week)
- Half sessions available at the start of each session
- Double sessions (16 weeks) will be available
