Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in the new English Language Institute (ELI) at Jacksonville State University (JSU)! The English Language Institute is located on the campus of JSU in Jacksonville, Alabama, which lies only 1 ½ hour's drive west of Atlanta, Georgia. The university is a public institution of more than 9,200 students, and it is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The ELI is a non-credit institute set up to assist students who want to learn English. The classes are designed for students who have an interest in studying at universities and colleges in the United States. Consequently, the program specializes in academic English. However, students who would like to come for a shorter-term study experience are also encouraged to attend the institute.

Learning English at the ELI opens a world of opportunities. Providing students with the chance to learn about American culture, as well as the English language, is a focus at the institute. Assuring that students receive a well-rounded educational experience is a vital part of our mission. As a student, not only will you have a chance to work closely with your teachers and learn as an individual in small classes, but you will also attend a variety of on-campus activities in which you will get to know Americans. We welcome you to come join our university community and learn through experience!
