Welcome to our campus! We invite you to visit El Camino Community College located in Torrance, California. This attractive landscaped-campus is noted for beautiful tall palm trees, a variety of pine trees that stay green all year and cherry blossom trees located throughout the 126-acre campus. In addition, El Camino is located in a culturally diverse area well known for a friendly atmosphere. There is easy access to shopping, dining, and many free activities. Our near-by communities include Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes and Manhattan Beach. We are 15 minutes from the best recreational opportunities like water sports, ocean bike trails, and walking paths at the beach. And, it's only a short ride to major attractions, LAX, downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills. El Camino Community College offers two complete programs for the International student: International Student Program (ISP) and El Camino Language Academy (ECLA). Our international programs offer small classes, experienced and professional college faculty on a campus rich in advanced learning resources - we have one of the best Library and Resource Centers in the area. In addition, we provide thorough counseling services and regular placement assessments to measure your progress and a qualified staff to assist you. International Student ProgramThe International Student Program (ISP) welcomes all applications following these guidelines: Your completed and signed application and supporting documents should include: a passport size photo, bank verification of adequate funding, official high school transcript in English with date of graduation, official transcripts from all colleges attended, an official TOEFL score report (133 CBT or 450 PBT), and a USD $25 non-refundable processing fee. El Camino Language AcademyThe El Camino Language Academy (ECLA) is an intensive English language program that is not-for-credit. This program does not require a TOEFL score and its mission is to prepare the international student to take and pass TOEFL, to reach an academic level in English, and to transfer to El Camino or any other college or university in the United States. This program consists of 20-23 hours a week class time with community college professors. Classes include: Conversation, Reading, Grammar, Writing, American Culture, TOEFL preparation and a field trip to well-known places in southern California. Academic CounselingAll international students will meet with an academic counselor before they start their program and meet at least once a semester. The counselors help with selecting a major, career, transfer options and graduation requirements. Student ServicesStudent services are complete and extensive: Visa advisement, college/university transfer fairs, assistance and preparation, orientation to the campus and community, academic assistance, personal counseling and support programs, career planning and preparation, free tutoring services, and health services. Associate in Arts and Associate in Science Transfer and Vocational ProgramsAll students have their choice of 21 Associate Degree Programs (transferable) and 30 Associate and Vocational Degree (transferable) Programs. In addition, students have other options in 29 Associate of Science (Vocational) Programs - that's 80 programs available on campus!
