Highlights

The California School of International Management (CSIM) is a private post-graduate institution with headquarters in one of the most historic buildings in downtown San Diego, California. It is committed to the highest standards in international business education by combining the best that European, Asian and North American educational models have to offer in a friendly and interactive environment.

CSIM specializes in one field only - international business and management. Degree Programs offered are the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in International Management (MSIM), and Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA). Upper division credit courses are also offered toward a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree and CSIM offers both semester and year abroad opportunities.

What distinguishes CSIM from traditional institutions of higher education are:

  • 12-18 month Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • 9-12 month Master of Science in International Management (MSIM)
  • TOEFL and GMAT test not required
  • Outstanding professors with both academic and practical experience; all classes taught in English.
  • Academic year abroad and semester abroad (BS)
  • Small, friendly, interactive classes
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Admissions four times yearly (January, March, June and September)

The co-founders of CSIM are Dr. Michael McManus of the United States (Ph.D., Cornell University, New York) and Dr. Klaus Evard of Germany (Ph.D., University of Paris-Sorbonne, France) who bring exceptional backgrounds to the Institute. Dr. McManus has been a professor at the European Business School in Germany and at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, California in addition to which he served as Assistant Vice-President of San Diego State University. Dr. Evard had previously founded two business schools in Germany. Together they have created a truly trans-national school of business with strong ties to Europe and Asia.

Highly academically qualified and internationally experienced professors provide top quality instruction to a diverse group of students. Educational institutions represented among the professors include Stanford University, Harvard University, University of California at Los Angeles, University of Chicago, London School of Economics, Free University-Berlin, University of California at Berkeley, and University of Frankfurt.

The current size of the student population ranges from 50-150 and will eventually reach a maximum of 300-350 students. Most students have had some work experience and therefore enroll at CSIM to fulfill specific academic and professional goals. CSIM has permanent approval from the State of California and is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. (The I-20 form is issued to all qualified applicants).

The California School of International Management operates on a quarter system of four equal 10-week sessions, Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer plus two 4-week intersessions between the Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer quarters. This allows students to complete their degrees in a compressed time period, nine months for the MSIM and 15 months for the MBA. The DBA students can complete all their course work, excluding the doctoral dissertation, usually within two years, while still pursuing a full time career.

During the two intersessions the students may either take a directed study (CSIM 600 or 700) or participate in an education excursion to Berkeley, California. This intersession course contains lectures from UC Berkeley Extension professors, guest lecturers from the Silicon Valley, investment bankers, lawyers and entrepreneurs. CSIM also takes the students to various start-up and successful Silicon Valley companies such as Cisco Systems and Intel. The students will have free time to visit such great learning places such as The San Jose Technology Museum of Innovation and others such as Yosemite, San Francisco and the wine country in Napa Valley. A CSIM representative will accompany the students each working day of the term in Berkeley.
